BECK wins FERONIA - the Upper Austrian Sustainability Award

And the winner is ... BECK.“ “What an announcement at the festive gala event with more than 1,000 guests on March 16, 2023, in Linz/Austria. In the „Sustainable Products and Services“ category, the company from Mauerkirchen/Upper Austria convinced the jury with its LIGNOLOC® wooden nail system and received the FERONIA Sustainability Award.

For the first time, Oberbank, OÖ Nachrichten and the state of Upper Austria awarded the Upper Austrian FERONIA sustainability prize. Companies, initiatives, and associations based in Upper Austria could apply with their sustainability strategy, a sustainable business idea or a sustainable product. Four winners were selected from 200 submissions.

Recognition for LIGNOLOC® wooden nail system

The first collated nailing system made from the renewable raw material wood has already brought Raimund Beck KG several top-class awards in recent years. These include the Iconic Award, the German Innovation Award, the materialPREIS and the Circular Globe Label. However, the Innviertler fastening experts had not expected to receive the official sustainability award from the state of Upper Austria that evening, as they competed against well-known contenders.

Thus, CEO and General Manager Christian Beck, CFO Markus Auer, and R&D Director Stefan Siemers were even more enthusiastic about the award. Christian Beck accepted the in every respect weighty prize on behalf of the entire team:

Joint action and innovative developments

For Christian Beck, another highlight of the event was the conversation with the well known mountaineer Reinhold Messner. As a FERONIA guest speaker, Messner insisted on joint action, the renunciation of anything superfluous and the development of innovative, sustainable technologies. It is precisely in this area that BECK, with LIGNOLOC®, sees itself as a pioneer in the construction industry and intends to continue to drive development forward with great strides.

Focus on ecological timber construction

With the innovative LIGNOLOC® wooden nails, ecological timber construction can be realized down to the smallest detail. Ideal for all timber construction companies who want to implement their projects glue- or metal-free. At the trade fairs BAU in Munich and LIGNA in Hanover, BECK will once again present its innovative wooden nail system including automation solution to a broad audience this year.

On board for the automation solution is also project partner KEHRATEC. The two companies are working on a robot-supported system for the fully or partially automated realization of timber construction projects, specifically through the pre-assembly of glue- and metal free wall elements. Small and medium-sized timber construction companies and carpenters throughout Europe should be able to manufacture mass timber wall elements themselves in the future.
